Dear residents of České Budějovice, dear fellow citizens,
This year once again, our city will transform into a paradise for runners. The 14th edition of the Mattoni 1/2Maraton České Budějovice, traditionally held as part of the Mattoni Running Festival, will bring thousands of athletes and their supporters into our streets. On Saturday, 30 May 2026, the historic city centre and surrounding districts will become the stage for a true celebration of sport.
Individuals, family teams, relay runners, and participants in the shorter five-kilometre race will test not only their physical strength, but quite possibly their mental endurance as well. Yet this event is not only about competing against one another. In many ways, each participant will be overcoming themselves — their fitness, perseverance, and determination. The reward for everyone will be the shared joy at the finish line and a well-deserved medal.
Unfortunately, temporary traffic restrictions are inevitably associated with the race. These measures are necessary to ensure the safety of runners and spectators, as well as to maintain smooth traffic flow. We therefore kindly ask for your understanding and patience.
At the same time, we warmly invite everyone to join us in the streets. Come and run, or simply support the participants with your cheering. Together, let us create the atmosphere that belongs to a major running event. I am proud that České Budějovice is a city of sport!
Dagmar Škodová Parmová – Mayor of the Statutory City of České Budějovice
Carlo Capalbo – Chairman of the Organising Committee
