Dear Citizens of Karlovy Vary,

On Saturday, May 17, the 12th edition of the Mattoni Half Marathon Karlovy Vary will take place in a refreshed format as part of the Mattoni Running Festival Karlovy Vary. This race, held under the auspices of the city and region, is part of the RunCzech Running League, ranks among the world’s top road races, and represents a major celebration for thousands of runners of all ages.

The day’s events will begin at 2:00 PM with a new feature – the Varyáda 10K Run. At 4:00 PM, around 2,200 families with children will take part in the dm family mile. Finally, at 6:00 PM, top European long-distance runners, along with 3,000 participants from across the Czech Republic and abroad, will set off through the streets in the Mattoni Half Marathon Karlovy Vary.

These races are always a spectacular and exciting experience, but they also bring some minor inconveniences in the form of necessary traffic restrictions. We greatly appreciate your understanding and tolerance.

Parking Limitations (Stopping Prohibited)

Please be advised that a parking ban will be in effect along the entire race route (see streets listed below) on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. To avoid unnecessary inconvenience, including the towing of your vehicle, we kindly ask that you do not park in these areas during this time.

P. Pavlova, most 17. listopadu, Varšavská, Horova, nám. Republiky, Západní (from the roundabout at Plynárenská Street to nám. Republiky), the entire length of Moskevská, Šumavská, T. G. Masaryka (section from the intersection of Dr. Davida Bechera / Bulharská towards the post office).

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM:
Slovenská (section between the Kome parking lot and U Imperiálu).

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM:
Západní (entire length), Dvorský most, Kpt. Jaroše, Závodní, Doubský most (partially closed), Studentská, Plzeňská.

Entry and Exit Options for Areas Affected by Road Closures – Allowed According to Instructions and with the Assistance of Police Officers and Municipal Wardens

1. Tuhnice Area

  • Západní Street will be closed from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM and again from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
  • Entry to the Tuhnice area from Chebský most will be possible until 1:30 PM.
  • Exit from Tuhnice between 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM will only be allowed towards KV Arena / Meandr Ohře.
  • Entry for residents into Tuhnice during 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM will be possible only from the direction of KV Arena / Meandr Ohře.
  • Exit from Tuhnice during the half marathon will be possible via Krymská – Charkovská – Západní towards Chebský most until approximately 6:15 PM, and again after approximately 7:20 PM.

2. Krále Jiřího Area

  • Exit will be possible via Dr. Davida Bechera (crossing permitted on instruction from Municipal Police), then via Jaltská – Dr. Engla (crossing permitted on instruction from the Police), continuing through náměstí Republiky to Chebský most.

3. Závodní Area

Závodní and Kpt. Jaroše Streets (section between Závodní and Dvorský most) will be closed from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

  • Access to and from OC Varyáda via Chebská and Kpt. Jaroše will remain open throughout.
  • No entry or exit will be possible to the Regional Office and surrounding buildings during this time.
  • Access to the Dvory area will be possible via 1. máje Street.

4. Spa Area (Lázeňské území)

  • The following streets will be completely closed for both entry and exit from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM and from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM:
  • Mlýnské nábřeží, Lázeňská, Tržiště, Stará louka, Mírové náměstí, Festivalový most, Nová louka, Divadelní náměstí, Vřídelní, Karla IV., I. P. Pavlova

5. Plzeňská, Studentská Area

  • From 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM, no entry or exit will be possible from: Plzeňská, U Podjezdu, Pod Lesem, Novotuhnická, from KV Arena, and from Studentská (from Doubský most direction into the city, and from Strmá Street).
  • Traffic across Doubský most will operate alternately (one lane at a time).

6. Leisure Area – Meandr Ohře

  • No entry or exit will be allowed from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

7. Exit from the Parking Lot on Západní Street

  • Exit will be possible at all times via the Terminal at náměstí Republiky, continuing towards Horova Street.
  • Times are subject to change based on the current situation.
  • From 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, no vehicle access will be possible between Zámecký vrch and Divadelní náměstí in either direction.
  • The spa center will need to be bypassed via Na Vyhlídce Street.

Public Transport Disruption – Passenger Notice

FRIDAY, 16 May 2025

Line 1 –
From 8:00 PM, the following stops will not be served: I. P. Pavlova, Lázně III, and Hlavní pošta.
The line will terminate and start at Tržnice.

SATURDAY, 17 May 2025

Line 1 –
All day, the following stops will not be served: I. P. Pavlova, Lázně III, and Hlavní pošta.
The line will terminate and start at Tržnice.
From 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM, the following stops will also not be served: Doubský most, Krajský úřad, Říční, Závodiště, Dvory, and Moser.
The line will operate between U Kapličky and Sklářská via a detour.

Line 2 –
From 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM, stops Lázně I and Divadelní náměstí will not be served. The line will terminate at Richmond.
From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, additional stops will not be served: Sanssouci, Švýcarský Dvůr, and Richmond. The line will terminate at Lanovka Imperial.
From 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the following stops will also not be served: Náměstí Dr. Horákové, Jízdárenská, Moskevská, Šumavská, and Stadion ZM.
During this time, the line will operate between Tržnice and KV Arena via the main road (průtah).
From 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, due to a complete closure of the area between Tržnice and OC Varyáda, the line will be diverted via průtah to Rozcestí u Koníčka and Sklářská, where it will exceptionally terminate and start.

Line 3 –
From 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the stops Dolní nádraží, Západní, and Stadion ZM will not be served.
The line will run via Elite, Pivovar, and Keramická škola.

Line 4 –
All day, the stops I. P. Pavlova, Lázně III, and Hlavní pošta will not be served.
The line will terminate and start at Tržnice.
From 1:30 PM, the line will be out of service completely.

Line 6 –
From 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM and from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the following stops will not be served: Dolní nádraží, Náměstí Dr. Horákové, Moskevská, Šumavská, Západní, and Stadion ZM.
During this time, the line will operate between Tržnice and KV Arena via průtah.
From 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, stops from Dolní nádraží to U Zámečku will not be served. The line will run on a detour via průtah directly to/from Svatošská.

Line 7 –
From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the stops Nemocnice to Gejzírpark will not be served.
The line will operate via a detour through Doubí without stopping. Stops in Březová will be served in the opposite direction to the usual route.
If the temporary timetable due to the closure of Slovenská remains in effect on 17 May 2025, the line will operate without change.

Line 11 –
From 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM, the stops Lázně I and Divadelní náměstí will not be served. The line will terminate at Richmond.
From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, additional stops will not be served: Sanssouci, Švýcarský Dvůr, and Richmond. The line will terminate at Lanovka Imperial.

Line 12 –
From 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the stops Dolní nádraží – terminál and Dolní nádraží will not be served. The line will terminate and start at Tržnice.

Line 20 –
Service on this line will end at 1:30 PM.

Line 23 –
From 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the stops Dolní nádraží, Západní, and Stadion ZM will not be served.
The line will operate via Elite, Pivovar, and Keramická škola.

Tourist Train (Autovláček) – Will not operate all day.

Regional Transport Lines (Linky krajské dopravy) – From 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM, they will not serve the Tržnice stop.
