Run Through History at the 2026 Prague Marathon – May 3, 2026

The 31st Prague International Marathon invites 10,600 runners to experience one of Europe’s most captivating races. On May 3, 2026, the streets of Prague will come alive for an event that blends history, beauty, and the joy of running.

Holding the World Athletics Elite Label, the race offers a scenic yet fast course with a pretty flat course—perfect for both those chasing a personal best and those soaking in the city’s breathtaking views.

Typical early-May weather in Prague brings pleasant highs of around 19–20°C, making conditions ideal for running.

The route passes through the historic Powder Tower, along the elegant Na Příkopě boulevard, and through Wenceslas Square—the vibrant center of Prague’s modern life. Runners then cross the legendary Charles Bridge, closed to the public for this special occasion, and continue along the picturesque banks of the Vltava River, with stunning views of the National Theatre, the Dancing House, and Prague Castle watching over the city.

With a 7-hour time limit, 19 live music stages, the Marathon Music Festival bringing energy to every corner of the streets, and pacers catering to all running levels, the atmosphere is as unforgettable as the iconic course itself.

Thomas Eller – Deaf runner at ORLEN Prague Marathon 2025

In 2026, the Prague Marathon proudly continues its commitment to inclusion, supporting runners with hearing disabilities through the “Deaf Runner” back bib, introduced in 2025 in partnership with Thomas Eller, the first deaf athlete to complete all Abbott World Marathon Majors.

“It was one of the first major marathons in Central Europe to officially recognize the Deaf Runner bib,” says Thomas. “That small but powerful gesture made me feel seen, safe, and respected. Every marathon I run is a step forward for inclusion and visibility.”

The Prague Marathon is also a story of resilience. Paul, a runner from Ireland, collapsed at the start of last year’s race—and is now planning his comeback. His survival was thanks to the quick actions of RunCzech volunteers, Emergency Medical Services (ZZS HMP), and the General University Hospital team.

RunCzech ensured comprehensive medical coverage, including the GOLEM emergency unit at Old Town Square (capable of intensive care for up to 12 patients), medical tentssix ambulances, three rapid-response teams, and 40 medical staff. Additional safety measures included first aid patrols every 2.5 km, six AED-equipped bike teams, and AED stations at the start and finish zones.

The event will be broadcast live on ČT Sport in the Czech Republic and streamed on TV in 106 countries worldwide. An international live stream with English commentary by Tim Hutchings (Eurosport / Diamond League) will also be available on RunCzech’s YouTube channel in select countries.

Whether you’re chasing speed, connection, or a moment you’ll never forget—Prague is waiting.

The race also has a charity aspect with Světluška, a long-term project of the Czech Radio Foundation that helps people with severe visual impairments — a reminder that every step can make a difference.

Join us on May 3, 2026, secure your entry before the next price increase, and discover why the Prague Marathon is more than a race — it’s an experience that stays with you long after you cross the finish line.
