    Lovers of sports and a healthy lifestyle should get their hands on the calendar. RunCzech has opened registrations for next year's most prestigious running events. The 2024 season will traditionally kick off with the world-famous Prague Half Marathon (April 6) and Prague International Marathon (May 5). "We were very pleased to hear the words of praise from people from the World and European Athletics, professional runners, enthusiasts and fans. They let us know loud and clear that they enjoyed our runs and they look forward to next year," said Carlo Capalbo, President of the RunCzech Organising Committee, whose races have been awarded with the World Athletics Elite Label Race.

    Czech runners achieved great results at Mattoni Ústí nad Labem Half Marathon. Damián Vích and Tereza Hrochová finished second overall. The victory was celebrated by Ukrainian Valeriia Zinenko and German Sebastian Hendel. Hendel is also the overall winner of the EuroHeroes 2023 series. Almost 2500 runners took part in the popular race, while both dm family runs were enjoyed by almost 1700 other participants, mainly families. "I believe that everyone enjoyed the 13th edition of the Mattoni Ústí nad Labem Half Marathon despite the unusually warm weather. Thank you all for the great atmosphere and I am looking forward to the next time," said Carlo Capalbo, President of the RunCzech Organizing Committee.

    This year’s special edition of the Mattoni Ústí nad Labem Half Marathon, set for Saturday, September 16, will mark the thrilling culmination of the EuroHeroes series, where the finest European runners will battle for dominance. The competition promises a nail-biting race, with mere seconds separating the top contenders. Among them, German athlete Sebastian Hendel stands as the frontrunner. On the women's side Alexandra Lisowska, who aims for the Polish record for women, will clash with Tereza Hrochová, a strong pretender for the first place.

All that is about to change with the very first "Runkara International Half Marathon" which will be held on October 8th. This monumental event is expected to bring together running enthusiasts from around the globe, catering to both amateur and professional athletes.

  • Ethiopian Worku Is the King of the Birell Grand Prix, and Italian Yaremchuk Set a European Course Record

    Ethiopian Tadese Worku has become the champion of the Birell Prague Grand Prix. One of the most extraordinary talents in world athletics won the Birell 10K race in 27:35. Among the women, Kenya's Janeth Chepngetich managed to get first to the finish line in 30:21. At the same time, Italy's Sofia Yaremchuk set the European course record of 32:14, just two seconds behind the Italian national record. The Czech winners were Damián Vích (29:31) of RunCzech Racing, and Tereza Hrochová (33:49). More than 6 500 runners enjoyed both the Birell 10K race and adidas women's race 5k, which held the auspices of the First Lady Eva Pavlova.

    President Petr Pavel fired the starting shot at the Prague International Marathon in May, and now his wife Eva Pavlova has joined his efforts to support sport in the Czech Republic. The First Lady has granted patronage over the 23rd edition of the adidas Women's race 5 km, which takes place this Saturday at 18:00 in the centre of Prague. "It is a great honour for us that Mrs. Eva Pavlová is supporting this purely female race. We really appreciate the fact that the first couple contributes in this way to the promotion of sport and, in our case, especially running," said Carlo Capalbo, President of the RunCzech Organizing Committee, whose team also organizes the Birell 10K Race, which starts at 19:30, as part of the traditional Grand Prix Prague.

    Anyone who wants to enjoy a sporting performance combined with a spectacular experience in the center of the Czech capital should make time on the evening of 2 September when the 26th edition of the Birell Prague Grand Prix is to take place. A magical evening atmosphere, thousands of excited runners and fans, and a spectacular experience are what you can expect during the Birell Grand Prix Prague 2023. Female runners are to start in the adidas Women’s 5 km Race at 18:00, followed by the Birell 10k Race at 19:30. Both races are to start and finish at náměstí Republiky.

    The UniCredit Prague Relay Running Festival once again entertained the Czech capital. Over 5,300 runners from 50 countries enjoyed one of the most euphoric races ever in Prague's Stromovka Park over two days, Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 June. "The interest in the UniCredit Prague Relay was again enormous. I am very happy that people want to move, that they got up from their chairs and did something for their health. The atmosphere was fantastic both days," said Carlo Capalbo, President of the RunCzech organizing team. "The team spirit here is unbelievable, and that's what I really like about it. A lot of people get motivated by a race like this and some start running regularly, which is great. In addition, you are running for a good cause," said six-time Paralympic champion Jiří Ježek, who ran for the charity team Světlo pro svět - Light for the World.
