Napoli City Half Marathon 2026: Registration Are Open – Become Part of the European Capital of Sport

Naples is riding high – on top of the world and in top form. After winning the Serie A football title, the city is now preparing to embrace its new title: European Capital of Sport 2026, as awarded by ACES Europe, the Federation for the European Capitals and Cities of Sport. And that’s just the beginning. In 2027, Naples will host the prestigious America’s Cup, the most famous sailing competition in history.

In the meantime, the city continues to shine with one of its most celebrated international sporting events – the Napoli City Half Marathon. Over the years, the event has made its mark, becoming the race where both the Italian men’s and women’s national records in the half marathon were set.

2025 Edition Highlights

This past edition welcomed over 7,100 runners across the main race and the 2-person relay, StaffettaX2. Adding to the lively atmosphere, hundreds of children and their families participated in the Family Run & Friends. Among the guests was German tennis legend Boris Becker, who took part as an ambassador for Laureus Sport for Good Italia, supporting the belief in Nelson Mandela’s words: “Sport has the power to change the world.” Numerous other associations joined the initiative, reinforcing the event’s strong commitment to solidarity and connection with local communities.

Elite Athletes

The Napoli City Half Marathon has always been a stage for world-class athletes. Among the stars:

  • Yemaneberhan ‘Yeman’ Crippa, who set the Italian and course record with a spectacular time of 59:26
  • European record-holder Julien Wanders (Switzerland)
  • Italian top runners Iliass AouaniYohanes “Yoghi” Chiappinelli, and Daniele Meucc
  • Muktar Edris (Ethiopia) and Maru Teferi (Israel)

On the women’s side:

  • Italian record-holder and Olympian Sofiia Yaremchuk
  • Olympian Giovanna Epis
  • Kenyan stars Viola Cheptoo (course record holder) and Angela Jemesunde Tanui, among many others

The course is renowned for its speed – confirmed by the 2023 edition, when 30% of all finishers achieved a new personal best.
