Several leading distance runners have confirmed their participation, among them twenty-one-year-old Ethiopian, Tadese Worku. Worku is one of the few athletes to break the 27-minute barrier over 10km with a time of 26:56. Kenyan Alexander Mutiso, who dominated the Prague International Marathon with a record time this year (2:05:09), and Belgian 10km record holder Simon Debognies will be joining Tadese in the battle for the podium. The last name to join and compete for the podium is Ugandan Isaac Kibet.

Seven international RunCzech Racing athletes will participate in the Birell 10k Race - six men and one woman. Damián Vích, Martin Zajíc and Jiří Homoláč will be joined by the Kenyan trio of debutants on the international scene - Leonard Langat, Vincent Kigen and Vinicent Nyageo. Vivian Melly will compete in the women's category. 

In the women's category, we are excited about Janeth Chepngetich of Kenya and Alem Tsadik of Ethiopia, both with stunning recent personal bests of 30:28. Sofiia Yaremchuk, a Ukrainian-born Italian long-distance runner, three-time National Champion, (PB 32:06, Lens 2021) is aiming to improve the Italian National record set by Anna Incerti in 2008 (32:12). Current Norwegian 10,000m champion, Hanne Mjøen Maridal, will challenge Sofiia and other athletes, with our own Tereza Hrochová, a multiple Czech Champion over various distances and 4th at the 2023 University Games Chengdu, China. The Czech female elite might go after the best Czech national time from 2000 set by Petra Kamínková.

This year's race course has undergone subtle modifications to enhance the speed and performance of all athletes. The event record, set by Joyciline Jepkosgei in 2017 (29:43), a World Record for four years, remains the event record. Now, with the list of prominent athletes, all signs point to an ecstatic race weekend, culminating with shattered records and notable achievements.
