RunCzech Racing team features both elites and promising newcomers in the upcoming Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon 2017

With less than three weeks to go before the first of seven events in RunCzech Running League...

...takes place in the beautiful streets of Prague, Abraham Kipyatich and Joyciline Jepkosgei, two elite runners of the RunCzech Racing team will take on an exceptionally strong field in the Prague Half marathon. Meanwhile Yvonne Jelagat and Josphat Tanui will take a first step in their international careers.

Kipyatich is returning to Prague for the third time. With four podiums out of five competitions in 2016, his first major success came in Prague. Abraham confidently won the 2016 Birell Prague Grand Prix 10km with a World lead time and personal best of 27 min 40 sec. “My training for 2017 Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon went well and I am looking forward to returning to Prague. It would be great to add Prague Half win to last year's victory in Prague 10K. If weather allows and if pacing is good, I hope to run under 60 minutes for the first time and set a new personal best,” - says Kipyatich, who is currently sharpening his shape for the Prague half marathon in Iten, Kenya.

Jepkosgei, who started her international career less than a year ago, surprised the world with a big improvement and podium finish in the RAK Half Marathon on February 10 in the United Arab Emirates. She finished third in 1:06:08, making herself the seventh fastest woman ever. Sub-66 min for the Prague Half Marathon looks as achievable target for her.

Josphat Tanui and Yvonne Jelagat will make their international debuts in Prague. Like many other members of the RunCzech Racing team they start their international careers in the RunCzech Running League. Jelagat so far had only one notable race in Kenya, the KAAS Marathon 12K, where she finished second in 42min 58sec. “Last year I was about to quit training, my life in Kenya was so tough,” says Jelagat, “but now I have support from RunCzech Racing, adidas and Ikaika Sports. I am very thankful and looking forward to running Prague Half Marathon.”

Tanui, who is training together with current marathon world record holder, Dennis Kimetto, will make his half marathon debut in Prague. In 2016 he clocked 28:37.4 over 10,000m in the National Championships in Nairobi, and won Aloha Zane Branson Memorial 15K with a time of 43min 59sec at altitude.

Another new member of the RunCzech Racing team, Nicodemus Kipkurui, is targeting his personal best of 1:01:56, set in 2016 in Sasumua Half Marathon in Kenya. Despite having international experience, Nicodemus didn’t progress as much as he hoped, while racing internationally. Changing his coach and training system, he believes will improve his results in 2017, and believes the Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon as a perfect place to do so.

Another two members of the RunCzech Racing team Josphat Kiptis and Nicholas Bor will pace the first and second groups respectively.
