Kudos to the Outstanding Women in the 2017 RAK Half Marathon

On Friday, February 10, a new women’s Half Marathon World Record was set at the RAK Half Marathon by Peres Jepchirchir with the time of 01:05:06, and the top three women who graced the podium all achieved very significant personal records.

Carlo Capalbo, the President of the RunCzech Organising Committee and Chairman of Road Running Commission, IAAF today stated, “All of the members of the RunCzech Team wish to send warmest congratulations to those three women. We feel very close to them as they all made impressive event records in RunCzech races in 2015 and 2016. We knew they were capable of outstanding performances, and we look forward to welcoming them back to the Czech Republic in the future.

The three women and their RAK times along with their RunCzech Records are as follows:

Holder of the event record in the 2016 Mattoni Karlovy Vary Half Marathon

2nd Mary Keitany1:05:13

Event record holder and two-time defending champion in the Mattoni Olomouc Half Marathon.

1st Peres Jepchirchir 1:05:06 world record

Event record holder and two-time defending champion in the Mattoni Ústí nad Labem Half Marathon and 2015 champion in the Birell Prague Grand Prix.
